Masconomet Music Parents Association
The Masconomet Music Parents Association (MMPA) is a non-profit corporation comprised of the parents of students enrolled in any music course at Masconomet Middle/High Schools. MMPA focuses on numerous issues that are of vital importance to the Music Department at Masconomet. These topics may include curriculum, enrollment, department budget, goals, performances, and fund-raising. MMPA’s fund-raising efforts support essential elements such as uniforms for the SHS performing ensembles, equipment, transportation, sponsoring noteworthy music workshops, funding community concerts, scholarships for private lessons and summer camps, and scholarships for graduating Masco seniors to further their musical pursuits and studies.
The MMPA’s primary fund-raising activities for which student and parent involvement is needed include the following annual events:
· the Outback Jazz Dinner and Silent Auction (May)
· the Summer Camp Fair (January)
· a Fall Chocolate and Coffee fundraiser
· a Fall used TV and computer electronics recycling event
Other activities planned around concerts and recitals this year may include:
· sponsorship of Community Concerts
· providing refreshments
· sales of “Masco Magnets” and amenities
· sales of DVDs of student performances
The MMPA’s regular meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the High School dining hall (across from music department rooms). Musical performance dates or school vacations/holidays necessitate some differences, so please see the school calendar for exact dates and times.
